Fortschrittliches Leit- und Kontrollsystem für Oberflächenbewegungen - Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System
Das Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System ist ein System an Flughäfen mit einer Überwachungsinfrastruktur, die aus einer nicht kooperativen Überwachung (z. B. SMR , Mikrowellensensoren, optische Sensoren usw.) und einer kooperativen Überwachung (z. B. Multilaterationssysteme) besteht. A-SMGCS verfügt über 4 Ebenen. Die Ebenen 1 und 2 wurden von der EUROCONTROL- Abteilung für Flughafenbetrieb und Umwelt in Eurocontrol in Brüssel, Belgien, validiert. Derzeit werden die Anforderungen für weitere Implementierungsebenen in Abstimmung mit der ICAO, der FAA usw. überprüft.

ICAO Doc 9830 definiert A-SMGCS wie folgt:
Fortschrittliches Leit- und Steuerungssystem für Oberflächenbewegungen (A-SMGCS). Ein System, das Routing, Führung und Überwachung für die Steuerung von Flugzeugen und Fahrzeugen bietet, um die deklarierte Oberflächenbewegungsrate unter allen Wetterbedingungen innerhalb der Flugplatzsichtbarkeitsebene (AVOL) aufrechtzuerhalten und gleichzeitig das erforderliche Sicherheitsniveau aufrechtzuerhalten.
