Task Force Leatherneck oder MEB-Afghanistan ist eine Marine Air-Ground Task Force, die derzeit in der Provinz Helmand , Afghanistan, tätig ist . Der Name wurde ursprünglich der 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade während ihrer Operationen 2009-10 für die Operation Enduring Freedom als Teil des Regional Command South gegeben . Es ist auch der Name, der von der 1st Marine Division und der 2nd Marine Division während ihrer Einsätze in Afghanistan verwendet wird. Die Task Force Leatherneck wird von Brigadegeneral Lawrence D. Nicholson mit dem Kommandoelement im Camp Leatherneck kommandiert . Die Task Force übernahm am 29. Mai 2009 den Kampfraum von Special Purpose MAGTF-Afghanistan. Im Juli 2009 nahm Task Force Leatherneck an der Operation Strike of the Sword (Operation Khanjar), der größten Operation des Marine Corps seit der Schlacht von Falludscha , teil dann im Februar 2010 eine noch größere Schlacht, die größte der afghanischen Kampagne, Operation Moshtarak (Operation Together).

Task Force Leatherneck bestand aus zwei Regimentskampfteams und vier separaten Bataillonen mit etwa 10.700 Mann.
